Beautiful and useful items for the home made by local crafts people, as well as locally produced artisan foods, can be found here at Blackthorn and Willow. Located in the centre of the historic village of Glenarm, we stock jugs, mugs, bowls and jars from local potters; glassware; willow baskets; bread and cheese boards; pure Irish linen napkins and tea towels; felted tea cosies and cafetiere warmers; aprons, cushions and table mats, as well as a selection of fine art by local artists. In addition we keep an interesting selection of new and second-hand books as well as our range of handmade sketchbooks and notebooks.
Our range of locally produced foods includes jams, marmalades and honey; chutneys, oils and vinegars; biscuits and cake; teas, coffee, and soft drinks; cheeses, dulse and smoked condiments and chocolate and sweets. We can also supply you with Glenarm organic salmon smoked at the North Coast Smokehouse in Ballycastle. In addition to keeping a small amount in stock you can also order salmon to ensure we have what you need: order by a Saturday (‘phone or send me a text) and it will be ready to collect here the following Wednesday.
In addition, every Saturday the shop is filled with the aroma of freshly baked bread as we bake our range of ‘Blackthorn Breads’. These loaves made from the finest of ingredients are ready for sale from around midday.
Glenarm is a small village and nothing here is more than a few minute’s walk away so we are easy to find: Blackthorn and Willow sits halfway between the marina (on the coast road) and Glenarm Forest. For those who are heading to the forest or up into the hills, we sell beautifully carved walking sticks made from hazel and blackthorn in nearby Carnlough.
At Blackthorn and Willow you will find unique and interesting pieces: local crafts make perfect gifts for weddings, birthdays and other special occasions as well as for everyday use..
After browsing the shop, sit and relax with a cup of tea or coffee: here in the old bar, we serve freshly ground coffee and a selection of teas, toasted artisan breads and locally made cakes and biscuits.
